Schumacher retired from Formula One in 2006, after finishing runner-up to Renault’s Fernando Alonso. Schumacher returned to Formula One in 2010 with Mercedes. He produced the fastest qualifying time at the 2012 Monaco Grand Prix, and achieved his only podium on his return at the 2012 European Grand Prix, where he finished third. • World Champion James Jacket

    $80.00

The World Champion James Jacket is a part of the World Champion collection and a celebratory homage to the James Hunt, the 1976 Formula One champion. Aggressive on the track with the will at all cost attitude, Hunt is also famously a ladies man.

The Hunt–Lauda rivalry was an individual sports rivalry which continued for about six years (from 1973 to 1979) between two Formula One drivers, the British James Hunt and the Austrian Niki Lauda. While they competed on the track, Hunt readily admitted that the two were good friends from their early days “gipsy(-ing) around Europe together” in Formula Three, where they became “mates, not just casual acquaintances”.

Both drivers retired midway through 1979, Hunt joined BBC Sport as a commentator alongside Murray Walker for Grand Prix and Lauda went to found his airline company Lauda Air. The enduring friendship between the two continued until Hunt’s death in 1993.

  • At the Heart of Racing Jacket

    $75.00

The At the Heart of Racing jacket is a celebratory homage to the Honda RA300 Formula One racer driven by John Surtees, winning Honda’s first Formula One race at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. The RA300 is powered by normally aspirated 48-valve 2,991cc V12 RA273E with a quoted 400-440bhp at 12,000rpm. Surtee’s RA300 had around 396bhp but with improved torque and response with more weight reduction to produce a scintillating finish at the Italian Grand Prix.

  • Rotary Heroes Jacket

    $75.00

The Rotary Heroes Jacket is to commemorate the Mazdaspeed’s  #55 787B racecar. The Mazda 787 and its derivative 787B are Group C sports prototype racing cars that were developed by Japanese automobile manufacturer Mazda for use in the World Sportscar Championship, All Japan Sports Prototype Championship, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans from 1990 to 1991. Designed to combine a mixture of the Fédération Internationale du Sport Automobile (FISA) Group C regulations with the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) GTP regulations, the 787s were the last Wankel rotary-powered racing cars to compete in the World and Japanese championships, using Mazda’s R26B engine.

Although the 787 and 787B lacked the single lap pace of World Championship competitors such as Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, and Porsche, as well as Japanese Championship competitors Nissan and Toyota, the 787s had the reliability that allowed them to contend for their respective championships. The reliability of the cars eventually paid off in 1991 when a 787B driven by Johnny Herbert, Volker Weidler, and Bertrand Gachot went on to victory in the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans. As of 2018, this remains the only victory by a car not using a reciprocating engine design, a record likely to never be repeated due to regulation changes until recently. For the 2020-2021 season a new FIA Prototype Hypercar class will now allow a Rotary engine under the NSU Wankel patents. It was the first victory by a Japanese manufacturer, and the only such victory until Toyota won the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans.
