The Porsche 911 arguably sits at the top of the hierarchy of the most desirable cars in the world. The Turbo models open the path to powerful 911s such as the GT2 variants although most would agree that with all wheel drive, the Turbo could be the best balance of civility and awesome grunt. Awesome Powered had the chance to shoot this 997 Turbo, owned by a young Malaysian engineer who has owned a variety of performance cars before settling on Stuttgart’s finest.
For those who have driven the 911, perhaps a thumbs up may not do justice in describing the feeling of driving such a machine. A thumbs up followed by a bout of tachycardia that resonates throughout the body and lasted for quite a while perhaps gives you a better idea of how special a 911 is.
Don’t be decieved by Euro-looking plates. This Stuttgarter is loving it in Malaysia.
Photos are by Joey Ch’ng, one of Awesome Powered’s photography partner and creator of IlluminaT.
The inherent reflection of a certain underworld group by the plate number is magnified by the rear wing which looked like a mohawk haircut gives an extra badass aura to the Porsche.
The sculpted lines of the 997 along with the infamous Turbo widebody are timeless classics. Some may argue that 911s have not evolved much in terms of design, but if it ain’t broke why bother fixing it?
Stock it may seem, but stock it shall not remain. How does Akrapovic sounds to you?
The round lights have been the mainstay of Porsches especially the 911. The 997 Turbo carries the tradition with pride.
Overlooking the Sultan Mizan Mosque, showing piousness can mix with being a badass car.
Mystery surrounds the owner. Only automotive enthusiasts need apply (also those with leggy slender models as well lol).
A stroll on a sunny day through Putrajaya, the administrative capital of Malaysia. It almost looked like it was back in Stuttgart.
The 997 Turbo is not only a fast car. It takes two red-lights to force the car to halt in traffic.
As we were busy talking, the owner floored it. The factory 473bhp and 620Nm of torque grabs you hard onto the seat while the car hurtles forwards. Being a natural gran turismo, the 997 Turbo excels in going fast while providing excellent comfort to its occupants.
The 997 Turbo has lots of technology to make it one of the ultimate handling cars available to the market. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) the price for these cars are plummeting thanks to unveiling of the new 991 Porsche which will soon have a Turbo and other high-performance variants. In other words, it would soon become a sought after cult classic.
The 997 Turbo received our photoshoot offer with open arms. We gladly obliged by ogling and drooling all over it.
This door is only for scantily clad supermodels. Others please take a hike.
The badge that rules all gauges.
Yes, this 997 Turbo is tiptronic or in layman terms an automatic. Nevertheless, even though this particular joystick doesn’t get played much, the power of this car is mind-blowing.
I’d say no to cycling or public transport because I enjoy driving my Porsche.
Would this be alright for you or would you like a round of Ruf or TechArt modifications done?
Climbing the social and career ladder requires hard-work and perseverance. And a Porsche.
As we bid good day to the owner and his 997 Turbo, we caught the last glimpse of the car. Such sensual bodylines and the civilized drivability only camouflages the awesome power that it holds. Floor the pedal and all hell breaks loose on all four wheels. It is definitely my kind of car…
